Your Creek 95407

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR STORM DRAINS FLOW?

The headwaters of Colgan Creek are up on Taylor Mountain. In southwest Santa Rosa, the paved Colgan Creek trail runs 2 miles from Stony Point Road along Bellevue Avenue by Elsie Allen High School and the lower Colgan Creek restoration. Gravel pathways follow the other side of the creek and continue upstream towards phase II of the Colgan Creek restoration project occurring summer 2021.

Birds are abundant along Colgan Creek. Herons and egrets are frequent visitors and don’t forget to look up occasionally for hawks soaring in the silhouette of Taylor Mountain.

Red-winged blackbirds stake out territory in the spring, spaced out along trees and fence posts singing and showing off their bright red shoulders for other birds.

Colgan Creek flows directly into Laguna de Santa Rosa in the southwest area of Santa Rosa.

Remember, storm drains connect streets to creeks, which flow into the Russian River. Simple changes can make a big impact. Colgan Creek is Ours to Protect.
