RESIDENTIAL CAR WASHING
The gutters along our City streets lead to storm drains that flow directly to local creeks. We can unknowingly impact our local waterways when washing vehicles at home. To be compliant with local and municipal regulations, please follow these easy steps to avoid discharging contaminated rinse water into our local storm drain system:
- Always use a shut-off nozzle on any hoses to reduce the amount of water used.
- Contain all carwash water by using buckets and a sponge.
- Wash your car on a permeable surface such as gravel, lawn, or permeable pavers.
- Divert any runoff to landscaping or a sanitary sewer by using pumps, vacuums or creating a Do-It-Yourself berm.
